Black Hopes EP

BlackHopesCover

The release starts with the track 'Violent Doors' beginning with a tense pulse worthy of musical masterpieces such as the opening theme song of the film 'The Thing' by John Carpenter, produced by Ennio Morricone. Later, when the beat comes in, the track becomes a dance track, seasoned with synthesizers that recreate dramatic and sordid atmospheres.

'Ophelia' is more of a club-oriented track. Its mesmerizing beat, along with the vocals effects full of fx, is repeated as a mantra, leading to an introspective and reflective dance.

'Walk Away', recalling somehow the Chicago inspiration, mixes rudimentary rhythms with deep atmospheres and ethereal textures thanks to the good use of its drum machine.

"Black Hopes" is a delicate piece which names the EP, featured with slow BPMS introducing an atmosphere inherited from the 90s IDM. This track evokes cold but soulful landscapes, with certain reminiscences to the very first works of Aphex Twin and effectively finishing up this solid and contemporary techno EP, away from the usual clichés of this genre.

Is Anybody Out There Cover

Is anybody out there? " Is the wake-up call proposed by the Madrid-based label Dusk & Waves in its second release.

For this review, Dusk & Waves relies once again on the Mexican electronic sound, this time together with the artist Arturo Jiménez Pérez, an independent producer with works published on labels such as Ninefont or Creepy Finger, creator of the label Tlaloc Records.

The producer, known as Mogo, offers us a futuristic EP inspired by Pink Floyd's masterpiece "The Wall", with three original tracks between Chicago-House and the darkest New Wave

The track heading the Ep tittle, "Is There Anybody Out there?" Is a demonstration of the original Mogo style, with a raw tone, built from analog bases and acid frequencies.

The cosmic tone belongs to "The Crazy Diamond", with the incorporation of arpeggios and a more lysergic and deep point of view, and at last but not the least the third track suggested by Mogo. " The Lunatic" its a combination of the funkiest and most danceable style with the synthetic and martian character of the producer.

To complete the tracklist of this new launches, two italians producers bring us 2 remixes. First, it's a dirty and hipnotic interpretation of "The Crazy Diamond" coming from Vicky Montefusco. The second remix is "The Lunatic" coming from Disquiet, much more insane with an acid touch, a great track for the dancefloor peak hours. credits

Kaos EP Cover

The first release on Madrid-based label Dusk & Waves is "Kaos EP" by the mexican duet Oswaldo Ar & Alex Cambrano.

Dusk & Waves lunch this first reference with the song "3Days" as the first track, a piece with pretty dark robotic vocals, martian tunes and an overwhelming groove that'll delight the late-night dance floor, which sometimes could remind us of the "Items & Things" troupe.

The EP also includes two remixes of the same track signed by Blacknob and Luigi Rossi. Blacknob is a Madrid training consists of EMG and Fine Signal, owners of the label "Dusk & Waves" and promoters of the party of the same name (where Alex Cambrano was scheduled during his last tour in Europe), the remix offers an interpretation with drier groove, static and fallen BPMs, getting more closer to the rhythms of the 80s and taking it, thanks to its stop, to more hypnotic locations than the original did. Ideal for after-hours.

The italian-born Berlin-based productor Luigi Rossi is in charge of the second mix. Staying true to the original, Luigi preserve the dusk and hypnotic atmosphere, but adding a touch of funky and a little taste from Chicago classics using drums that clearly remind us of the Roland 707.
